what is hope

In times like these it’s so important to save your mind. How you take in the current moment will be how you come out of it. I anchor my mind in hope, not in a blind optimistic everything-is-going-to-be-all-right sort of hope because to me, that’s not really hope at all. It will crumble under the weight of sorrow and fear. ⁣

To me, hope is embracing uncertainty. Not denying the current realities, but facing them with strength and wonder. Hope is a labor, but a fruitful one. It’s a place where I can see the world as it is but also as it could be. It’s a place where I go to shake off the spirit of heaviness that so often comes in troubling times. Hope is a place where we can hold ourselves, our hearts and each other in the dark and find the joy in the struggle. Hope is being content in the unknowable. A place where I can go to feel at home in the world regardless of the circumstances. Hope is where the light leaks in. A place where I can be. The only place I truly know how to exist.
