In this video, I read an excerpt out of From the Dust. This reading is from the second piece in the collection titled, California Strays. The story as whole is a glimpse into life after Mom gets sentenced to six years in prison, into Dad’s meth lab, and how we all tried dealing with our loneliness. This excerpt is taken from the end of the story, when we are gripping for hope, for love, for whatever the universe had left to give.
